How is car detailing different from a car wash?
The term "detailing" is frequently misunderstood in the automotive industry. Terms like "waxing, polishing, sealing, washing, paint correction" are often used incorrectly as interchangeable descriptions, which leads to misrepresentation of services and makes accurate price comparison difficult. A proper car wash requires high-quality soap, generous suds, a two or three bucket system, and minimal brush contact. Professional detailing goes significantly further by including clay bar treatment to remove embedded contaminants such as fallout, tar, and road debris, followed by polishing. Polishing can be performed by hand or machine, and when done correctly with diminishing abrasives, it permanently removes swirls, scratches, and paint imperfections. However, improper polishing can cause paint burns, edging, micro-marring, or holograms. The final step in any professional detail is paint protection through waxes, sealants, or ceramic coatings. Pure carnauba wax provides excellent reflection and UV protection for two to three months. Synthetic sealants offer protection up to one year. Ceramic coatings create a cured sacrificial layer over your paint with a hardness rating of approximately 9H, compared to standard clear coat at 2H, providing superior scratch resistance. The protection application represents only ten to fifteen percent of the total detail time, with the majority spent on proper preparation and correction. How often should I have my car detailed?
Vehicles should receive a professional wash monthly when possible. Our comprehensive detailing services typically maintain their quality for six months to one year. We provide flexible maintenance plans available on a monthly, bi-yearly, or yearly basis. Patriot Ceramics exclusively uses premium ceramic coatings. While we can source any coating a client requests, we only warranty products we have thoroughly tested. Our experience includes countless hours working with various coating systems. We offer 10H graphene coatings and primarily apply CSL gtechniq and EXO gtechniq products, with our premium option being Adams Graphene advanced 5+ year coating. These coatings provide enhanced hardness, extended durability, and superior hydrophobic properties that create exceptional water beading. Critical to quality results is applying ceramic coating only over properly cleaned, clay barred, and polished paint surfaces. Any imperfections, defects, or contaminants will be permanently sealed beneath the coating, which is why preparation cannot be compromised. Coating services range from $500 to $2,300 depending on vehicle condition, coating selection, and warranty coverage. Coating longevity depends on proper maintenance, avoidance of harsh chemicals, and driving conditions. A two-year coating on a garage-kept vehicle may last three to four years, while frequent exposure to harsh conditions may reduce a coating's lifespan to one and a half years. At Patriot Ceramics, we maintain competitive pricing while delivering the highest quality work in the Denver Metro area, and we will match any legitimate competitor for equivalent services. Every ceramic coating installation includes an extensive four to six stage paint preparation process to ensure flawless, high-gloss surfaces before coating application. Our goal is to make your vehicle look better than new.How are cars evaluated to estimate the price of the services?
Customers frequently tell us their car is clean and requires minimal work. Even vehicles with only fourteen miles on the odometer can have issues. New cars often arrive with vinyl transport wrapping residue, and vehicles stored at ports or warehouses accumulate rail dust, tar, and airborne contaminants. Many dealerships use automated brush car washes or improper hand washing techniques that create minor swirls on new paint. During vehicle inspection, we assess swirls, defects, tar, contamination, oxidation, and paint color. Darker colored vehicles require more intensive correction work because they show even minor imperfections more prominently. For interiors, we evaluate pet hair presence, excessive dirt accumulation, and tree sap contamination. How long does it take to have a car detailed?
Our entry level service with wash, clay bar treatment, and hand wax application requires two to three hours. Our platinum level detailing with light interior cleaning and lifetime ceramic coating requires eight to twelve hours of work, plus an additional twelve to twenty-four hours for proper coating cure time.Where is this business located?
Our business operates primarily as a mobile service. We travel throughout the Denver Metro and Colorado Springs areas, and we provide service anywhere in Colorado. We have completed annual detailing services for customers as far as the DFW area in Texas. Travel beyond 200 miles requires a minimum of $2,500 in services, typically covering multiple vehicles. We maintain a personal garage converted to a professional workspace in the Westminster/Broomfield area of Denver, available on a first-come, first-served basis for customers without suitable facilities. We are planning to establish a two- to three-bay appointment-only detailing facility within the next year.
